Places To Visit In Chelem
If you are looking to escape the heat of Merida and you dig a relaxed beach town where all the locals are very friendly, Chelem is the place to be.
Just next to Progreso, Chelem is quieter, more relaxed and has more beautiful beaches.
We stayed in Chelem for a month and we are definitely coming back. For us, it was perfect. One main road and sandy roads that lead to our Airbnb, relaxed beaches with almost no one there (besides some Mexican families on weekends), and not much to do besides relaxing.
My wife's parents came to visit us in Chelem for 2 weeks.

We had a great time, often going to the playa bonita beach club and restaurant, where you can eat, relax and sip on your favorite drink!

Beach Side Seafood Restaurant

One noteworthy restaurant mentioned is Puerto Eden, a beach restaurant that opens from 11 am to 8pm. The couple that run the place are the friendliest people, always putting out a great service. The restaurant focuses on seafood and they have wonderful fish soup!
You can sit right on the beach with your toes in the sand to enjoy fresh seafood while watching the beautiful sunset! |
